One common thread has united us since the beginning: The “State Line.” It’s at the core of who we are. Our city was founded on it, it anchors our shield, and it has been featured in our kits since the introduction of the Sporting era. In 2011, we debuted our first State Line kit with a subtle single-needle stitch intersecting our crest. In 2013, we lifted our first MLS cup as “Sporting” with the now iconic split State Line kit. And now, for 2022, we celebrate State Line 3.0, featuring a subtle embossing of 913/816 – Kansas City’s area codes - in a State Line pattern. It starts at the State Line at the center of our shield and radiates out like a pulse of energy, reaching across the entire Midwest. We wear it on our chest and we feel it in our hearts. United by the divide.
Necktape: There’s only one Sporting. Only one Club that unites an entire region. Sporting fans come from many states, many cities and too many counties and neighborhoods to name. Our necktape honors the unique story of Kansas City–a city that straddles the state line, but shares a name and a passion: Two States. One City. ONE CLUB.
Back-Neck: The mark at the back-neck features two pieces of iconic architecture from our city–one from each side of the State Line. The Shuttlecock sculptures from the world famous Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, MO have become a ubiquitous representation of Kansas City culture. And the Rosedale Memorial Arch in Kansas City, KS, honoring the local citizens who served in World War I, World War II, Korean War and Vietnam Wars, which sits atop a bluff with an inspiring view of the Kansas City skyline.
